December 20 - Religious Services Did your family attend religious services during the Christmas season? What were the customs and traditions involved?
When we were young kids it was all my mom could do to get us dressed and ready for church on Christmas morning for the 9:30 service. Wrapping paper and bows littered the floor. But we always made it and enjoyed the service. As we got older especially in high school we often went to Christmas mid-night service. When I was in junior high I was an altar boy and often got picked to serve for the bigger ceremonies including the Christmas mid-night service. I love to see the church all decorated. I’m always surprised at the number of people that show up too. Many we hadn’t seen since Easter.
